in such a time

for victoria

in such a time (if there should ever be
another time like this) as we are far
apart let not the dark of night so mar
your moods that sadness comes unstealthily

or if the wideness of the world should see
one terrified (as distance makes the tar
that binds two hearts melt) one might aim to par
the course and wait for greener times to tee

for at the end of every flight is rest
and with each journey is return (so one
believes) – i am coming back, my dear,

my heart will never go, and i protest
the hours thrown away on such a run
as much as pray that you are always near
