In all these months

In all these months we’ve spent there has to be
more than just one good thing – for after all,
if we can still withstand (since our first fall)
the mundane trudge of daily life then we
must dust off our hearts again, and see
the things within each other that made us call
out then. In all these months – do you recall? –
we try as best to live as happily
as we can know.
                                 If happiness has seemed
to fade somewhat, we must stay strong. The worst
dark winters will still turn to spring. Please let
me take your hand again, as if at first,
and let us love. Take a deep breath. Forget
all doubts; believe our light has not yet dimmed.
