Sixteen Delight

for blackkdamsel

The wind blows; day doth pass through evening,

Yonder is heard fragments of melodies—

A singer’s voice with pure and lusty dreaming

With chords on strings and harmonies from keys

Yonder is heard fragments of melodies—

The music rings in hedgerows of sharp thistle

With chords on strings and harmonies from keys .

While sparrows sing and leaves their secrets whistle,

The music rings in hedgerows of sharp thistle

For gladness’ sake the clouded skies turn blue,

While sparrows sing and leaves their secrets whistle,

And bring joy-light to those surrounding you.

For gladness’ sake the clouded skies turn blue—

Accept this gift played out in humble verse;

And bring joy-light to those surrounding you—

Maturity’s a blessing and a curse.
