In Celebration

What is love? all lies and trickery?
To fool the wise and trap the eager ones?
The cause of which our Saviour faced the lance?
The strong turn weak, and those with eyes not see?
What is love? the stuff of dreams and clouds?
Where gypsies sing, and fairies dance in rings?
Makes adolescents desire for their wings,
And many a youth feel lonely in their crowds?
What is love? but life’s most magical,
And the saddened rise in joyous song,
To sing their gladness in mèrry revels long,
Impulses strong, and yet illogical.
Love is free, unbridled, wand’ring bliss,
A glist’ning flower, a spring breeze’s ling’ring kiss.
